THE ART OF BLACKSMITHING Alex W. Bealer For many of us the book needs no review. The Art of Blacksmithing is in many of our libraries, but
there are many smiths new to the craft that don’t have this almost essential
book. I believe that if you ask
anyone that has the book or has read it you will get a heartfelt recommendation
to add it to your collection. The
book has 438 pages of history, and “how to”.
Bealer shows how to make many forged items as well as the use of all of
the basic blacksmith tools and how to make many of them. Since it is in so many hands already and so well known it would not
ordinarily be written about or reviewed. The
reason for this paragraph is that while most of have bought it for $25 or $30, I
have found a source offering it hard cover, for only $9.99 The item is #4478 from A COMMON READER, 1-800-832-7323.
They are also offering, WORKING WOOD, hard cover at $9.99.
I will not describe this one because I do not know the book.
If you don’t have Bealer’s book, you should. Good luck and “keep on smithin” Ed Lancaster |
